12 Strangers & The Hub (ARST 235)
A bicycle repair table with twelve work bays in a circle, and a shelter that turns it into a neighborhood bike shop.

Architecture 1, Fall 2025. The brief was a table, then a space, in support of an agenda to bring twelve strangers together.
The table
I designed a table for bicycle repair. Twelve work bays sit in a circle, so people end up facing each other and asking for help. Ramps make it easy to lift and lower bikes to the work plane, the bays fit large bicycles, and there is sheltered storage underneath.
The Hub
The Hub is an inside-outside space for the table. Outside, it supports round-the-clock bike maintenance. Inside, it becomes a bike shop with workshops, repair classes, and staffed bays. People choose how social they want to be while working on a bike.
